Back in the Saddle Again

I worked for a couple of hours on a saddle (that white bone piece that the strings go over). Learning how to measure and shape it, and get it just the right height so that the action is right (how high the strings are off the fretboard). And it looked good, and it seemed to fit right, and then I tuned the guitar up and the pressure cracked that saddle ... you can see it making a kind of under the A string (one in from the right). OY! frustrating. We are practicing with micarta because it's cheap, but it isn't as strong as bone. So, I got to start over. I suppose it's just another opportunity to practice and get experience...

you know what they say...

experience is what you get when you don't get what you want....

Yes, but we learn from our mistakes...next time, accompanied by our middle age short term memory, the path back to them a second time will seem somehow familier (which means it must be right...).
