Today's next task was to remove the tape that had been used to protect it from the lacquer spraying, and remove all the little edges of lacquer on the edges of the fretboard. Then to re-mask the fretboard and level, dress and polish the frets. The process involves "bluing" the tops of the frets... first to run a level over them and make sure that they are in line with each other... if there's a low fret, you know it b/c it stays blue while the others come through silver. Once they're level, you re-blue the frets and round off the tops of them. And after that, they get polished with ever-finer grades of sandpaper and finally with 0000 steel wool.

Hey, if you have any need for Philly's famous 1 grit sandpaper, there's plenty of road repair on G'mantown Ave -- I'm sure I could get you some..
